Tessa's Webb workshops were aimed at helping us to build our professional careers as artists. There were 3 workshops, but unfortunately, I only made it to the first one. During that time schools were closed and my 11 years old daughter was at home all the time. That period made me prioritise my time very differently to days when my daughter is at school. I had very little art time on my hands so in order to carry on with my main wallpaper project I had to cut down on these workshops. I knew that they would be recorded and all the resources would be uploaded online, so eventually I would be able to catch up with them.

I found the first workshop very interesting, in depth and detailed. Tessa made a point of making sure we know what we want to communicate through our art and start getting used to talking about it. She touched on values we hold as humans- encouraged us to find out what our values are and try as much as possible to work with and for people with whom we can still stay true to them.

Tessa made us look at all the skills we've gathered throughout our life, and the skills from our course; how they can be transferred to many job roles. We talked about various art vacancies.

We also had an exercise where we described skills we want to gain, assessed where we are now and how to move forward to to get them. It was really good to put it all down on paper. Some things seem to be obvious, but when they are written down they tend to get more tangible and we give them more focus and structure, which helps achieving goals.

We talked about pros and cons of being self employed:

And she gave us useful links for planning our professional career:

When this academic year is over I will go through all the resources from the other workshops with Tessa and start applying the knowledge of them. If I think that I need more help, I will quite likely subscribe to B-School run by Marie Forleo ( https://www.marieforleo.com/bschool/ ), which focuses on helping people create successful and meaningful businesses.

However, at this moment, I need to create my content first. Once this is done and I have my first wallpaper design, I will start putting my energy into promotion/business side of things.
