Making cut-out collages has always been an appealing art form to me and I have decided to give it a go.

I cut out the outlines of the bodies and didn't really like the effect. I thought of playing with deferent colours and textures and stay within the same main shapes.
In a meantime I looked into Matisse's work, of course. In his pieces, I liked how careless the individual shapes looked like, yet together, in a figure of a person, that didn't seem to matter, and an overall effect was pleasing. Decided to give this attitude a go:

I was happy with the result.

So I carried on with the other person in the same manner and glued the pieces down. And.......I was no satisfied...I liked the previous unglued 'careless' effect.
I went further and added random cut outs of paper to show the energy moving through the people and the whole picture looked even worse;)

I started again.
Something was missing.

I added see through pink plastic shape and drew with posca pen on it.
It did not look great;)
I threw more plastic shapes in the mix:

And it started looking better. It felt like a possibility for an exploration.
I took pictures multiplying my image and adding more colour. It felt like fun. I. Could. Not. Stop:

I like the movement in the last one and electric colours.
These plastic shapes have been on my mind for quite a while and I had used them to make a stop motion animation in the past.
Now, I wanted to experiment with them again. I was really inspired during laser cut workshop by many products students made. Transparent colourful acrylic shapes were one of my favourites and the were so similar to these plastic shapes.
Here are my laser cut shapes (not related to the project):

I've been thinking of laser cutting colourful shapes of people and other elements to hang somewhere close to a source of light(like a window). Each element would be hung on a piece of thread so they move individually in the air and overlap. I really like the effect of colours moving over each other and creating a new colour and shape together.
