Once I have done copper plate engraving with hands, I knew I wanted to explore hands close up further. This time on a larger scale (A3), in pastels.
Here's the proces:

I was focusin on small areas, one at the time.

I like the idea of showing how touch travels(delicate red lines) through the body of the person who is being touched.

Underexposing photo to see colours variations.


Final piece. It was really hard to take a picture which would show the range of colours. The subtle tones disappear in lights here. They are more visible in close ups, but the background changes a lot.


Upon finish that piece I thought that it would be nice to make another version which has a thiner layer of pastels. In the first one I was still working out the colours and redoing areas in the process. Now, I could start again with a colour 'template'.


It is still to be finished, however, I do like it like this.
